Classes & Workshops

Weekly Classes

At Quilters Quest we offer weekly classes. These are suitable for quilters of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. At these classes you choose your own project and will receive guidance on how to complete it; at the same time, you will have the opportunity to learn a varied number of techniques used in patchwork and appliqué. Classes are available during the day and in the evenings. Our class members are entitled to 10% discount off fabrics (sale fabrics excluded). If you do not already attend our classes but would like to, contact us & we can add your name to the waiting list.

Monday 23rd April 2012 saw the start of our Spring/Summer term. These classes will run for 10 weeks and the cost is £60.

There will be a 4 week session of classes running every Tuesday evening in August 2012. Classes start Tuesday 7th August 2012 and the cost is £25.

Autumn classes will start on Monday 10th September 2012; this term will run for 12 weeks and the cost is £72.

Friday Sewing Club

The Friday Sewing Club is held between 10am and 4pm in Quilters Quest every Friday. Come along and work on your own project(s) whilst enjoying the craic with others. The cost is £5 for the day and this includes as much tea and coffee as you can drink. No tuition is included on a Friday. Sewing machines can be hired at a cost of £1 per day. Please contact us to check availability as this is a very popular club.


One-Day Workshops

One-day workshops run from 10am until 4pm and cost £25, unless stated otherwise. Fees do not include materials. A £15 deposit is required at the time of booking to secure each place – this is non-refundable if cancelled less than seven days before the workshop and a replacement is not available. Quilters Quest reserves the right to cancel any workshops; in the unlikely event that this happens we will notify you as soon as possible and all deposits will be refunded.

  • Saturday 2nd June 2012, Fat Quarters Anonymous (Yvonne McKee)

This is a workshop for people who are addicted to fat quarters. There is a choice of easy patterns with clear instructions and step-by-step pictures for quilters of all levels. With a name like Fat Quarters Anonymous, all patterns naturally start with fat quarters. Whether you are using the scrumptious bundles from our quilt shop or fabric from your stash this workshop gives you an excuse to use them.

  • Saturday 16th June 2012, Get Dizzy, (Yvonne McKee)

Playful pinwheels make this an exciting quilt to make. Use fat quarters of brights to make this a really cheerful quilt or perhaps this is the time to use up some of those fat quarter packs you have in your stash! Click here to see a sample block.

  • Saturday 23rd June 2012, Curved Piecing (Yvonne McKee)
If you have ever machine pieced curved seams then you know how tedious the piecing can be. Not any longer! This new spin on curved piecing technique simplifies the process while producing remarkably accurate results.
  • Saturday 7th July 2012, Children's Bag Day (Yvonne Mckee)

At this workshop we will make a bag for life's essentials - phone, purse, mp3 player, sweets! Children must be accompanied by an adult during the workshop.

  • Saturday 28th July 2012, Bag Day (Yvonne McKee)

Bag days are always popular (and not just with Yvonne!). Call in, or check back here, closer to the time to see which bag we will be making.

  • Saturday 4th August 2012, Quilt Basics (Clare Greer)

Learn the basics of good patchworking - accurate cutting, sewing, and pressing. This class is perfect for beginners. By the end of this workshop you should have completed a basic 4-patch cushion and have a basic knowledge of all the skills required to make a quilt, including adding borders, machine quilting, and finishing with binding.   • Saturday 11th August 2012, Children's Workshop (Yvonne McKee)

At this workshop we will make a cushion or pram-sized quilt. The basics of cutting, sewing and how to quilt will be covered. Children must be accompanied by an adult during the workshop.

  • Saturday 25th August 2012, Quilt In A Day (Yvonne McKee)

Using pre cut strips you can make a wide variety of quilt designs and there are always new ones on the go. Have you been looking at that jelly roll and wondering what to make with it? Come along and you will be sure to make something that you will treasure. This workshop is also suitable for beginners.

  • Saturday 22nd September 2012, Free Machining (Yvonne McKee)

This is an introduction to free machine quilting – meandering, stippling, swirls, teardrops and much more. After this session you should be more confident in your ability to free machine quilt. A wide variety of designs is covered.

  • International Quilt Festival of Ireland™, Galway, 8th - 10th June 2012

Come and join us at the first ever International Quilt Festival of Ireland. The festival promises to include a Quilter's Village filled with quilting classes, craft workshops and quilting vendors.

  • Quilters Quest Exhibition & Sale, 18th - 23rd June 2012 (except Wednesday)

This is a chance to see what our classes have been working on throughout the year. We will also be holding a SALE on certain items.

A whimsical table runner for small tables and spaces. The runner features eight Pagoda blocks which are constructed using easy dimensional curves.
